About IMEI Control Regulations and How to Check Your Phone’s IMEI
Terakhir diperbarui, Mei 31, 2026
The Indonesian government has implemented IMEI blocking to prevent the circulation of illegal or black market (BM) mobile phones in Indonesia. Black market phones usually do not pass official certification and may not pay the required taxes. This can cause losses for both the government and customers who purchase these devices. If your phone’s IMEI is not registered in the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) database, your device may experience restricted access to cellular networks. Requirements for Legal Telecommunication Devices A telecommunication device is considered legal and compliant if it meets the following requirements: Has an official warranty card from the device manufacturer Includes a user manual in Bahasa Indonesia The IMEI is registered in the Kemenperin database Has an SDPPI certificate issued by the Directorate General of Resources and Equipment for Post and Information Technology (Ministry of Communication and Informatics) Customers are advised to check their IMEI through the official Kemenperin website: imei.kemenperin.go.id How to Find Your IMEI Number You can check your device IMEI by: Dialing *#06# on your phone Checking the IMEI information on the device packaging How to Check if Your IMEI is Registered Visit imei.kemenperin.go.id Enter your IMEI number on the website. If the IMEI is registered, the message “IMEI registered in the Kemenperin database” will appear. If it is not registered, the website will show that the IMEI is not found in the Kemenperin database. Exceptions to IMEI Control IMEI control does not apply to: Mobile phones using international roaming services Devices used by foreign visitors (WNA) in Indonesia Portable computers (laptops) used by foreign visitors in Indonesia Devices Connected Before the Regulation Devices categorized as HKT that were already connected and active on the cellular network before the IMEI Control Regulation came into effect, or Non-HKT devices that are currently inactive but had previously connected to the cellular network within a maximum period of 5 (five) years prior to the regulation taking effect, will continue to receive access to cellular network services in accordance with the applicable provisions.
